Camping Fun!
For the first time in almost 2 years we had a camping trip...kinda! Johnson Ranch hoa sponsored a family camp out. On Friday night we toted all of our camping gear over to the golf course, where Scott and the boys pitched the tent along with about 30 other families. There was a hot dog dinner, crafts, night swimming, a movie, and s'mores...followed by the best part, sleeping in the tent!
Ava did great, proving she is happy camper!
In the morning we had breakfast and headed over to the lake for the annual fishing derby.
The boys love fishing, and reeled in a few nice ones! Now everyone has camping fever, and looking forward to the next adventure!

Easter
Easter was fun, as always in the Sabbe house! We decorated Easter cookies as a build up to the day.
But we all know the real excitement comes when the Easter Bunny comes, hippity hoppin' down East Desert Moon Trail. As usual we are woken by the sound of whichever kid wakes first and goes from room to room to tell everyone else what is in the Easter baskets! Followed by an egg hunt! Which this year started by Carson christening the gate because he didn't want to go inside to go to the bathroom. Boys!

To round off the day we enjoyed a nice prime rib dinner, then headed over to the park for some kite flying (we had perfect kite flying weather!), and back home for some banana cream pie. Although holidays are always exhausting, the are always special and fun.

Blakes Turns 11
Seems every time we turn around the kids are another year older. Blake is only 5 years away from being driving age, 4 1/2 from a permit (he keeps reminding us)! For now it's all about bikes, and skate boards (thank the Lord!). This year Blake chose cash instead of presents, which came as no surprise...it also came as no surprise that he wanted to go to the store almost immediately to figure out what he was going to buy (money burns holes in that kids pockets!). Blake's intentions to save it were good, but in the end, splurging on Paper Jams won out. For dinner we went out to eat at at Red Robin. As soon as dinner was over he was read to go...but not so fast, here comes the staff, singing happy birthday. Unfortunately, the battery on the camera went dead, just as we were about to capture the shock on is face, darn! Maybe next year!

Ava is 5 months
Our baby girl is growing so fast its hard to believe! At her well check she was almost 17 pounds! She has graduated to 6-9 month clothes already and size 3 diapers. My plan was to start her on solids at 6 months, but it seemed she was showing genuine interest in our food, so one day I decided that I would mash up a banana for her and see what she thought of it...she liked it! Next we tried sweet potato, that I baked and mashed up for her, she wasn't really sure about that, some days she likes it, others not so much. Then a few days later, while making chocolate chip cookies, Carson asked for a spoon full of cookie dough (I know, it's not good to eat raw dough, but we've also survived it). Ava was in her high chair. So, before I knew it, Carson was back for more. I asked him where his spoon was, and he said he was sharing with Ava...sure enough, I turn around to find her sucking vigorously on a spoon full of cookie dough! GASP!!! So, to date, bananas, check, sweet potatoes, check, chocolate chip cookie dough, check. Pretty sure we can check raw egg and chocolate off the list of foods she tolerates!
